Norse strike again – AAU dismantled

After capturing Jerusalem, slaughtering confused armies of Atlantic Federation(AF) and African-Arab Union(AAU) in so called Norse Civil War Incident, Norse once again confirm their undisputed hegemony on the server mercilessly showing that African Arab Union’s title of the largest nation in /int/craft history is virtually meaningless.

With Spain gone, their arch enemy and the only faction in this iteration capable of putting up a fight against them, uncontested Norse effectively control most of Eurasia. Divided in three(Northmathr, Sicily, Ming) but working as one Norse don’t let their potential rivals to grow and severely punish every vulnerable faction. Like African-Arab Union.

Starting as South Africa, the AAU managed to unite all of inhabited Africa and Arabia. It started with Ethiopia joining the nation of South Africa, then Kenya, Libya and Djibouti followed. Then, Egypt decided to unite with South Africa, founding the African Union, which soon, after numerous Arab settlements joined it, renamed to African-Arabian Union. Growing through a peaceful cooperation and mutual agreement, AAU broke the record for the largest /int/craft nation – with population peaking at 81.

African-Arab Union at it’s greatest extent

Despite it’s enourmous and unprecedented size, the nation utterly failed to project it’s power. Consisting almost exclusively of newer and unexperienced players, AAU didn’t take care of it’s own security and lacked a proper military command and equipement. An attempt to engage in military action – taking part in infamous Norse Civil War Incident ended in a massacre of weak and unorganized African-Arabian troops and Northmathr declaring they’ve gained a valid Cassus Belli on AAU. And another terrific announcement from this faction – Africa will burn.

It took 3 days for these words to come true. Small(only four soldiers – two citizens of Northmathr,  one from Ming and one from Sicily) but armed to the teeth garinson showed up in Africa, launching an invasion on a small Somalian town of Debre Berhan. Very quickly it was obvious that the city can’t repell the attackers, with it’s defenseless citizens being killed and Norse taking more and more chunks of it. As the city fallen it’s members fled, trying to find shelter in other African towns.

After disbandement of Debre Berhan, Norse, aided by troops from then nationless Chengdu (now part of Ming), attacked the largest city in the AAU – Mombasa. Once again, Africans were proven completely uncapable of defending their homeland and in attempt to avoid a further damage some of them fled Mombasa or war logged.

And despite Englavian, the leader of Benghazi and the entire African-Arabian Union announced an unconditional surrender, still not satisfied Norse did not stop and captured Dubai, leaving it in ruins. With Norse not willing to begin any kind of diplomatical talks, Englavian had only two choices. To either witness the destruction of even more towns or to disband the nation. And he choosed the latter one. Thus, the largest nation in /int/craft history has fallen early.

While some part of the community point out that fall of African-Arab Union was caused by their own mistakes, unwillingness and lack of concern about definitely the most important matter for the nation – which is safety, the others are truly enraged by once another destructive and in their opinion unnecessary conflict caused by the Norse. But despite the fact they certainly have a lot of enemies it’s clear that, atleast in game, no one is capable of putting to an end their prolonged domination in /int/craft politics.  And with the combined population over 60 they are the largest “nation” on the server now.

  1. Debre berhan is an Ethiopian town, and it turned from Suid Afrika to the African Union when Benghazi/Cairo joined, not Ethiopia/Cairo.

    Other than that, pretty accurate.
